VICTORIAN SHERATON REVIVAL ANTIQUE SATINWOOD BOOKCASE ATTRIBUTED TO EDWARDS & ROBERTS

DESCRIPTION

An exceptional quality late Victorian period Sheraton Revival satinwood antique bookcase attributed to Edwards & Roberts with marquetry fan inlay and wheat husk swags to the top, finished with purpleheart and boxwood string inlay and fiddleback mahogany crossbanding.

 

The bookcase has Greek key moulding and is beautifully inlaid with fine swag and ribbon design to the frieze, with inlaid urn and flowers to sides framed with purpleheart and boxwood string inlay terminating to four square tapering vase shaped feet.

 

The cabinet has two doors each with their original glass panels and working lock and key. Inside reveals a polished mahogany interior and three adjustable shelves each with string inlay to the front.

Edwards & Roberts was established in 1845 at 21 Wardour Street in London and produced fine furniture both in the contemporary styles of the time and in earlier English, French and Georgian styles. They became known for their excellent cabinet work and marquetry inlay.

Small goods will be delivered within a couple of working days which are provided with a tracking number. Large items are delivered by a trustworthy carrier and we aim to deliver within two weeks of purchase but please allow three weeks.

We accept returns within 14 days providing the customer pays for the return and the item is in the same condition we sold it in and it is packaged well.
