Edwardian Mahogany and Marquetry Surprise Drinks Table

A superb quality Edwardian figured mahogany surprise drinks table with fine marquetry inlay throughout. The quarter veneered figured mahogany top features various dyed woods inlaid with an anthemion, bell flower and scrolling leaf design to the corners with tulipwood cross banding and ebony and boxwood string inlay. All four sides are beautifully inlaid with urn, ribbons, cascading and swags of bell flowers with leaf carving standing on turned tapering fluted legs terminating to brass cup castors with inverted shaped lower shelf.

When the table is opened it reveals a mahogany interior and rising compartment for glassware with a removable mahogany and glass drinks tray with brass carrying handles. The table works on concertina bellows which creates a rise and fall soft close action.

The table has the retailers brass plaque  - Finnigans Ltd, Manchester

The table comes with 24 crystal glasses including champagne, wine, highball and tumbler glasses
