French 19th Century Mahogany Display Cabinet Attributed to Sormani
A magnificent quality French mahogany bow ended glazed vitrine display cabinet with original mirror back and glass shelves with a drawer to the front. The cabinet has an open display base and is stood on turned tapering fluted and stop reeded legs and is fitted with the finest quality bronze gilt mounts and mouldings throughout. The top section of the cabinet is fitted with an open pierced bronze gilt gallery.
The cabinet has an inset coloured original marble on the top and lower shelf and retains its original locks which are in full working order with a key.
The cabinet is attributed to the cabinet maker:-
Paul Sormani was born in 1817 in Venice and moved to Paris in the mid 19th century. Sormani won many awards for his cabinet making works of art and was renowned for his high level of excellence. He worked up until his death in 1877.
