French Napoleon III Bronze Gilt Mantel Clock by Miroy Freres
A very good quality French Napoleon III bronze gilt mantel clock adorned with two female seated figures, one holding a lyre and the other with a book and pen. The clock is surmounted with laurel leaf wreath, lute, scroll of sheet music and book ornamentation. The plinth has inset serve style porcelain panels with hand painted floral decoration within a blue and gilt border with bronze gilt trailing ivy standing on scroll feet. The clock has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and a French eight day movement which strikes the hours and half hour on a bell with outside count wheel.
