English George III Mahogany Bracket Clock by Hampson & Thelwell
A very good quality English George III figured mahogany chamfer top bracket or table clock with ebony mouldings, inset corner panels and brass moulded edges to the front of the case stood on brass ball feet finished with a brass pineapple finial to the top. The clock has brass fish scale sound frets and decorative floral leaf brass ring carrying handles to the side of the case.

The movement is a five pillar, twin fusee, eight day on wire with pull repeat action, top pendulum adjustment and holdfast which strikes the hours on a bell
Robert Hampson was born in 1737 and died in 1828. Richard Thelwell was born in 1784 and died in 1841. They joined partnership and were registered as clock and watch makers at 13 Exchange Street and as clock and watch makers, silversmiths, jewellers and china dealers at 2 St Ann's Square in Manchester.
