An extremely good quality French Napoleon III free standing serpentine shaped fold over games or occasional table in the Louis XV style. The table is inlaid with engraved brass and red tortoise shell and is stood on square tapering cabriole legs. The top has a central design of chariot, goat and cherub surrounded by an intricate scrolling foliate design which carries on throughout the table with ebonised detail and very good quality bronze gilt ormolu mounts and moulds.

Paul Sormani was born in 1817 in Venice and moved to Paris in the mid 19th century. Sormani won many awards for his cabinet making works of art and was renowned for his high level of excellence. He worked up until his death in 1877.
