An exceptional French serpentine shaped boulle red tortoise shell and engraved brass bonheur du jour. At some time in its life it has been adapted into a very fine looking dressing table. The base on the cabinet has a drawer to the front which opens to reveal a sliding glass lockable compartment for jewellery etc. which has a velvet red lining. The cabinet top is fitted with two drawers and a cupboard which when opened reveals a mirror back and shelf.
The cabinet has ebonised sides with brass string inlay and decorative brass gilt moulds and mounts. The front of the cabinet is beautifully inlaid with floral leaf inlay work and has various animals throughout such as horses, butterflies, birds and deer.
The cabinet can be easily changed back to a bonheur du jour as the mirror can be taken out.
