An outstanding and rare exhibition quality free standing French Louis-Philippe style serpentine shaped boulle engraved brass and red tortoise shell bureau plat or centre table with blue and green coloured enamel inlays. The table still retains its old maroon leather top with gilt tooled detail.
The table has exceptional deeply shaped cabriole legs which are ebonised on the insides with magnificent quality deep cast scroll leaf and cherub bronze gilt chased mounts and feet. The frieze of the table is fitted with an oak lined drawer and cast acanthus leaf mouldings with four demi-god mounts to each side.
The table frame is made of oak which again is a sign of quality.
